The West Africa CivicTech Conference has become the region’s leading gathering of civic innovators, policymakers, and active citizens committed to using technology to strengthen democracy and improve governance.

This year’s theme, “Youth, Technology, & the Future of Governance in West Africa,” highlights the growing role of young people in shaping the region’s democratic future. Across West Africa, a new generation of digitally connected citizens is moving beyond traditional participation to build solutions that improve transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.

At a time when democratic backsliding and military interventions in parts of the Sahel have exposed the limitations of existing governance systems, young people are leveraging civic technology to challenge inefficiencies, create new channels for participation, and reimagine public institutions.

This conference will bring together regional and global leaders to explore how digital tools can strengthen democracy, accountability, and citizen participation across the region. More than a conference, it is a platform for collaboration, learning, and action; connecting changemakers who are driving civic innovation and building a more inclusive future for people and inclusive governance in West Africa.
