About Justice Link

Nanya’s Care Initiative is a non-governmental organization focused on promoting justice, gender equality, and education. The organization is committed to advocating for the rights of vulnerable individuals, particularly awaiting trial inmates, victims of police brutality, and marginalized women and children. Through legal interventions, educational support programs, and social impact projects, Nanya’s Care Initiative works to create a more inclusive and just society. The initiative is also at the forefront of civic technology solutions, such as Justice Link, a digital platform aimed at addressing cases of unjust incarceration and ensuring access to legal representation.

About Ifunanya Jessica Okoye

Ifunanya Jessica Okoye is a dedicated social justice and gender advocate with a passion for civic engagement, gender inclusion, and quality education. She is the founder/Team Lead of Nanya’s Care Initiative, an NGO focused on justice, gender equality, and education. She is also the National Secretary of the Empowered Sapien Mulier Initiative (ESMI), where she actively contributes to gender empowerment and advocacy efforts.
A graduate of History and International Studies from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Ifunanya has a strong background in student leadership. She served as the Vice President of the Student Union Government (SUG) at UNIZIK, where she spearheaded impactful initiatives, including a program titled “The Woman: Her Assets and Beauty,” which empowered women through skills acquisition, scholarships, and tech resources.
Her commitment to justice led her to work extensively on cases involving awaiting trial inmates in the Onitsha Correctional Center, advocating for fair trials and legal representation. This inspired her to develop Justice Link, a civic tech solution aimed at addressing police brutality, wrongful incarceration, and legal assistance for awaiting trial inmates. Through this project, she has engaged with key stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Justice/Attorney General of Anambra State and the Ministry of Justice, to analyze data and improve the justice system.
Ifunanya is a 2024 CivicHive Fellow, a Nigerian Women Trust Fund mentee, and the Chief Whip of YAN Ekwusigo LGA, where she continues to push for women and youth inclusion in leadership. She has been featured on media platforms such as Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) to advocate for female participation in governance.
Her advocacy extends to education, as she has organized programs to encourage secondary school girls to return to school and understand the importance of education. She is also an active member of civic and human rights engagements, working closely with organizations and embassies to drive policy changes.
Ifunanya Jessica Okoye is committed to shaping a society where justice, education, and gender equality thrive. She believes in the power of advocacy, technology, and leadership to create lasting impact.
