About Gavel

Gavel is a not for profit/non-governmental organization with the aim of increasing the pace of justice delivery through access to justice, digital technology and citizens’ engagement. Since our inception three years ago, we have tracked court cases, promoted transparency and accountability in the justice sector and also provided free legal support for indigent persons while advocating for the rights of indigent Nigerians.

About Nelson Olanipekun

Nelson Olanipekun Esq. is the Founder/Team lead of citizens’ gavel; an organisation improving the pace of justice delivery through digital technology, access to justice and citizens’ engagement. He is an Enterprise for peace Scholar, Civic Hive and Aspen New Voices Fellow. He attended Lagos Business School, Cambridge Judge Business School and is a lawyer with a lot of experience in developing legal tech solutions such as justice clock case management solutions for ministries of justice- he led the development of justice clock, pro bono, podus etc. He explores the use of research, data and digital technology to accelerate the pace of justice delivery. His application on Rankings of State High Courts explores the pace of justice delivery at each state high court highlighting the problems and solutions. Nelson is a member of the administration of criminal justice committees across different states in Nigeria.
